How to Store Food Properly

Good storage starts before food reaches the cupboard or refrigerator. Choosing products in the right condition, keeping them dry and using clean containers can make a meaningful difference.

Match the storage method to the food

Some foods need refrigeration, while others keep better in a cool, dry and dark place. Keep strong-smelling or moisture-sensitive products sealed, and follow the storage guidance on the package.

Watch moisture and air

Humidity and repeated exposure to air can soften dry foods and shorten shelf life. Close packages firmly after every use or transfer the product to an airtight container.

Use what you have

Organise food so older products are visible and used first. Small habits such as checking dates and planning portions help reduce unnecessary waste.

Freeze-dried foods should also be protected from moisture. Stored sealed in a cool, dry place, they retain their distinctive light and crunchy texture.
